Nigerian company, Galaxy Backbone, won the Public Sector ICT Infrastructure Provider of the Year Award at the Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Awards organized by the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).
Galaxy Backbone is Nigeria’s primary ICT provider, and acts as the Digital Infrastructure agency for the nation’s public sector. Additionally, it has played a crucial role in the telecom and information technology sector.
The company also provides network backbone infrastructure, and a number of digital connectivity services to partners and stakeholders across both private and public sectors.
The company’s win at the NTITA has certainly buoyed its hopes for the future. Apart from the best Public Sector ICT Infrastructure Provider award, the company also won the Public Sector ICT Personality of the Year award. This was bestowed upon Galaxy Backbone’s Managing Director and CEO, Yusuf Kazaure. Mr. Kazaure was given the award by the President of ATCON, Olusola Teniola.
The committee stated that Mr. Kazaure won the award on account of his numerous contributions, which have resulted in the steady growth of the Information Technology in Nigeria’s public sector. Under Kazaure’s leadership, the company has managed to spread its network coverage across 18 states in the federation.
The company is now attempting to expand its reach to other parts of the country. Mr. Kazaure received the award with much thanks and stated that he was “humbled” by the award and “grateful” for the recognition. He added that Galaxy Backbone would continue to “identify itself” with the industry and would continue to provide “efficient and reliable” ICT services across all public institutions.
The NTITA is an annual event, which serves as a great opportunity for members of Information Technology and Telecommunications industry from both public and private sectors to interact, share ideas, and celebrate any successes achieved during the past year.
