Nehwal Ousted from French Open

The title contenders P.V. Sindhu and K. Srikanth stormed into the quarterfinals of the French Open Super Series. While Saina Nehwal ousted from the series on Thursday.

The silver medalist Sindhu defeated Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi 21-14 21-13. She would walk into the court to set up a revenge match against China’s Chen Yufei.

In the men’s singles, B. Sai Praneeth and Prannoy joined Srikanth in the second round. Prannoy beat the South Korean Lee Hyun II 21-15, 21-17 in a 43 minutes match.

Prannoy would now face Denmark’s Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus in the next round. B. Sai Praneeth was defeated by Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto by 21-13 21-17 in 44 minutes.

The bronze medalist Saina Nehwal, lost the tournament to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi with 21-9 23-21 in the second round.

Nehwal fought back was wining at 16-19 second game and was edge to win the game at 20-19 before Yamaguchi settled the match.

Meanwhile, in the women’s double pair, Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi beat the Indian Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy, respectively.

In men’s double pair, Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding of Denmark lost the match to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty with 22-20, 12-21, 21-19 in an hour.
