According to an academic paper published on October 1, Google’s Artificial Intelligence has a higher IQ than Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant. The academic paper attempts to compare the technology of both the companies to human beings.
The paper was written by three Chinese researchers.
In 2016, Google’s A.I. had an IQ of 47.28. It came ahead of Baidu, the Chinese search engine which fared 32.92. Microsoft’s Bing scored 31.98 which was double of the IQ of Siri with 23.94.
A six year old registered an IQ of 55.5 while an eighteen year old scored 97 in the IQ test, according to Yong Shi. Yong Shi is an executive deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Research Center on Fictitious Economy and Data Science.
Google and Microsoft systems are currently getting smarter. In 2014, Google’s IQ score was 26.4, while Bing registered 13.5. During that period, the researchers did not analyze the A.I of Baidu and Siri.
Apple, Google, and Microsoft have been investing in A.I research.
The companies are improving speech recognition, image recognition, among the other areas. These techniques can be applied to revenue generating processes such as online adverts.
Comparing the existing A.I. systems of each of the companies were done to analyze its performance with human beings. Researchers were creating the analysis since it was difficult to undermine the comparison methods.
The analysts have taken into consideration the systems’ abilities around “knowledge mastery, learning, use and creation.”
As per the new paper, the researchers also included analysis on AlphaGo, the system for playing Chinese board game of Go from Google’s parent company, Alphabet’s DeepMind group.
The analysists didn’t mention its IQ but stated its intelligence below compared to humans.
